Indian Hoop Game (Bow and Arrow)
The hoop game using bow and arrow has traditionally served many purposes. In the young, survival and warfare skills are developed.
The boys learn to shoot the arrow with accuracy at a moving target. With adults the game would test one hunter's skill against another hunter.
The hoop was made of willow, and could be of any size. Although 2 to 2 and one-half feet is a common size for the hoop, it could be made bigger or smaller. The size of the hoop depended on the skill of the participants. The game is played with one person rolling the hoop, and the participants taking turns shooting at it from a distance. After all participants have had their turns, the player with the most shots through the hoop wins.
